Kucoin: update your API keys from v2 to v3
Kucoin: update your API keys from v2 to v3
Updated over a week ago

Recently Kucoin has upgraded their API keys from version 2 to version 3.

They will stop supporting v2 from July, 1st, 2024. Until then you need to upgrade your API keys from v2 to v3.

Some of the API keys were upgraded to v3 by Kucoin itself so maybe you don't need to do anything.

To check what version of API keys you have, go to the Kucoin API management page:

If you have v2...

You need to create a new API key with the same permission and replace your old API keys on 3Commas. Here are the steps to do this:

Or hover over the profile icon on the top right corner, then click API Management:

You must enable security verifications to add API keys. If you see this message, please follow KuCoin's instructions.

2. Click Create API

3. Open the Link Third-Party Applications tab

Make sure 3Commas is chosen in the Name of Third-Party App field:

4. Name your key and create API Passphrase

When you have multiple APIs, a proper name helps to manage it.

The passphrase should be the unique password for the API key. It is not the same as your account's password or Trading password (but it could be filled by the Autofill tool, which is the wrong browser action!). Save it, as you can't add API to 3Commas without it:

5. Enable the Spot Trading account and click Next

As of now, Futures trading is not yet supported on 3Commas.

6. Enter all needed verification codes and click Confirm

7. Great! You have created your API keys

...now it's time to update API keys on 3Commas

1. Go to the My Portfolio page

2. Find Kucoin, click on three-dot menu, and click Update API Key

3. Enter Public key, Secret key, Passphrase and click Save

4. That's it! Your fresh v3 API keys are updated!
