What is KYC & Why Do I Need It?

What is KYC?

KYC (Know Your Customer) is a mandatory identity verification process that ensures compliance with financial regulations. It helps prevent fraud, money laundering, and other illegal activities in crypto trading.

Why is KYC Required?

3Commas users in the European Economic Area (EEA) must complete KYC due to MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation) 2025 requirements.

This ensures:

  • Compliance with EU financial regulations

  • Safe and secure access to crypto trading

  • Fraud prevention and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) enforcement

Who Needs to Complete KYC?

KYC is required for:

  • New users in the EEA creating a 3Commas account

  • Existing EEA users who wish to continue using 3Commas after April 2025 (learn more here)

  • Anyone from the EEA who wants to trade crypto or connect an exchange via API

⚠️ Without KYC, access to trading and subscriptions will be restricted.
