Important Notice for Binance Futures traders within the European Economic Area (EEA) from June 26th 2024
Important Notice for Binance Futures traders within the European Economic Area (EEA) from June 26th 2024
Updated over a week ago

Update August 1st, 2024:

3Commas now supports Binance Futures trading for EEA users with the new Binance Futures Credit Trading Mode introduced by Binance recently! 😄

This allows you to use the Binance Futures Credits (BNFCR) to create trades instead of USDT.

Haven't connected a Binance account to 3Commas yet?

If you have already enabled Binance Futures Credit Trading Mode for your Binance account, and have not connected it to 3Commas, you can do this by following this article.

If you already have Binance connected to 3Commas

ℹ️ To be able to continue trading on Binance Futures, you need to upgrade it to the Binance Futures Credit Trading Mode account using this article from Binance.

3Commas will automatically check if there are BNFCR credits on your account balance, the account type will automatically be changed to say Binance Futures USDT-M (EEA):

Please Note:

  • ⚠️ If you upgrade to Binance Futures Credit Trading Mode using the Binance exchange website, you DO NOT need to update the API keys in 3Commas and can create Bots or SmartTrades without any issues using the new BNFCR trading pairs.

  • Whether you do or do not upgrade to Binance Futures Credit Trading Mode, you are still able to trade on the Spot market! All this situation is around trading Futures.

How to trade on Binance Futures again with 3Commas?

For users who have upgraded to Binance Futures Credits Trading Mode

If you have upgraded your account to Binance Futures Credits Trading Mode, your open positions will continue to function as normal. The only change you will notice is that your balance and pairs will now display BNFCR instead of USDT:

For users who have upgraded but have open positions from before June 26, 2024, you have until September 30, 2024, to close these positions. Any positions remaining after this date will be progressively closed starting from September 30, 2024.

For users who have not upgraded to Binance Futures Credits Trading Mode

Following a system update from Binance on July 29, 2024, EEA users will now see BNFCR instead of USDT in your Futures account balance. However:

  • You are not able to increase existing USDT margined (USD-M) positions or Coin margined (COIN-M) futures positions or open new ones and any open orders for these markets will be canceled.

  • You are still able to top up your margin balance to prevent margin calls and liquidations for existing positions created before July 29, 2024.

  • You must close your positions by September 30, 2024, as any remaining positions will be progressively closed from that date onward by Binance.

Trading History Update:

On your trading history pages, trading pairs closed before July 29, 2024, are marked as USDT. Starting from July 29, 2024, all new closed deals are marked as BNFCR pairs following the system update. Here is the example:

A short recap of the main changes since June, 26, 2024

  • Binance Futures account holders located in the EEA are no longer able to trade USD-M or COIN-M markets using direct assets in their accounts.
Affected countries: Austria, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.

  • Futures trading can only be permitted using “Binance Credits” (BNFCR).

  • To continue trading Futures, Binance accounts must be upgraded to the Binance Futures Credits Trading mode accounts (read article).

Notes about COIN-M

Coin Margin (Coin-M), Isolated margin and Single-Asset modes are no longer available within the EEA.

Starting from June 26, 2024, you are unable to increase your existing CM futures positions or open new ones, and any open orders will be cancelled. You will continue to be able to top up your margin balance to prevent margin calls and liquidations. You have time until September 30, 2024, to close your positions. Any remaining positions will be progressively closed commencing September 30, 2024.

You can still see Binance Futures Coin-M accounts connected to 3Commas, but you will not be able to start new trades; Bots and SmartTrades will receive such an error: This symbol is in reduce-only mode due to regulation requirements.
