Managing opened orders and futures positions

Sometimes when trading, you wish to see the orders opened on the Exchange and open Positions on the Futures Exchange.

What is the Opened Orders and Positions tool?

Sometimes, when you trade, you may wish to see opened orders and positions on your linked Spot or Futures Exchange without having to log into the exchange account linked to 3Commas:

  • on Spot exchange, you can see Open Orders;

  • on Futures exchange, you can see Open Orders and Open Positions.

It might be that you have a position that has been partially filled, and you wish to check the status or just to double-check if the orders are placed correctly.

This tool is very useful if you canceled a Futures trade or if it failed for any reason.

You can also use this tool to view opened orders for any SmartTrades, DCA Bots, Grid bots, and even any orders you've created outside of 3Commas, such as on the exchange's website or mobile app!

The Opened Orders and Positions tool displays both Limit Orders waiting on the exchange order books to fill (these can be Add Funds orders, Safety orders, Stop Loss orders or Take Profit orders) and any open positions you have running on Futures.

Where can I find the Opened Orders and Positions widget?

Go to the SmartTrade page in the 3Commas web interface and choose the exchange account at the top of the page you wish to view open orders or positions for:

Then scroll down past the chart and trade creation section. You'll see the widget and you can click on this line to expand it and display the orders and positions. If you view a Spot exchange account, you will see only the orders displayed (if you have any open). If it is a Futures account, you'll additionally see 2 buttons: Open Orders and Open Positions - you can also use the "Search" box to filter orders by asset name or a specific order, trade or deal ID number if you have many open orders:

What do Open Orders look like?

Here is an example screen showing the opened orders from a linked spot exchange account(or Demo account). You can see which tool opened the order - SmartTrade, DCA bot or Grid bot:

Viewing and Managing open Futures “Positions”

If you cancel an opened Smart Trade or Bot deal, the Position on the exchange remains open and is still able to be liquidated! Those positions will be marked as "Not linked to 3Commas".

If you do this, you have two options:

  1. close the Position by pressing the Close at Market Price button (1 on the screenshot below) on the Opened Orders and Positions widget;

  2. take control of the position and click the Convert to SmartTrade button (2 on the screenshot below). This allows you to configure Take Profit and/or Stop Loss settings or just retain visibility and uPNL (unrealized Profit and Loss) of the opened position.

To view your opened positions, expand the "Opened Orders and Positions" widget and open the Open Positions tab:

An example above shows a position that is "Not linked to 3Commas", essentially an orphaned position with no management or visibility on 3Commas.
This position can be from a canceled SmartTrade, DCA Bot, Grid Bot, or even a position opened directly on the exchange's web or mobile app interface.

If you click on the Convert to SmartTrade button, you will be redirected to the page where you will be able to review the Smart Trade and confirm if everything is correct.

Please note!

It is very important to manage any positions you have opened on the exchange account when trading Futures, especially if you cancel the 3Commas trade that was controlling them. It is a good habit to check the number of positions the "Opened Orders and Positions" widget matches the number of active trades you think should be running and when unsure, you can expand the widget to view/check for any positions "Not linked to 3Commas" as in the guide above.
