Big pump moves are tempting to chase, but they’re also where pullbacks and reversals often happen. This use case shows a simple “pump hunting” workflow:
Manually find coins that pumped hard today
Set up a Futures DCA bot (Short)
Let the bot open a deal only when RSI conditions are met
Let the bot manage risk with your DCA settings
Important
3Commas can’t auto-start deals based on Daily % change (for example, “coins up 30% to 50% today”). Because of that, coin selection is manual. You pick the pumped coin first, then the bot handles the entry timing using RSI conditions.
What you’ll use
Market Data Insight (to find today’s biggest movers)
A Futures DCA bot (Short) (to manage the trade once you choose the coin)
RSI deal start conditions (so you don’t need to manually confirm RSI on a chart)
Step 1: Create a Futures DCA bot (Short) and find a pumped coin
Go to DCA Bots and start creating a new bot.
Select a Futures exchange account.
Set the bot Direction to Short.
In the pair selection area, open Market Data Insight.
Filter "Daily % change" and look for +30% to +50% coins.
Choose 1 to 3 coins to trade, then set the bot to those pairs.
Step 2: Set the deal start condition
Set these Deal start conditions:
RSI length 7, 5-minute timeframe: crossing down 70
RSI length 7, 1-hour timeframe: greater than 70
Step 3: Configure your risk controls (DCA bot settings)
This is where you define how the bot manages risk after it opens the short.
At minimum, set:
Base order size (your initial entry size)
Averaging orders (how you average if price moves against the short)
Max active deals (keep it low, especially if you’re manually rotating pairs)
Take Profit (how you’ll exit in profit)
Stop Loss (optional but recommended for fast-moving pumps)
Leverage (if your exchange supports it)
Tip: pumps can stay irrational longer than expected. Avoid oversized base orders, and keep averaging orders realistic for volatile moves.
Step 4: Enable the bot and let it trigger the entry
Turn the bot ON.
The bot will wait until your RSI deal start condition is met.
When triggered, it opens the short automatically and manages the position using your bot settings.
Step 5: Reuse the workflow for the next pump
When you spot a new pumped coin:
Turn the bot OFF (optional, but cleaner if you’re switching pairs).
Change the bot’s trading pair to the new pumped coin.
Turn the bot back ON and let it wait for RSI conditions again.
Why this works (and what it avoids)
These pairs are already pumped up, so there’s a huge chance they’ll pull back or mean-revert after the hype slows down
You manually pick the pumped coin (since Daily % change can’t be used as a deal start trigger)
You avoid guessing the top by letting the 5M RSI crossing down handle timing
The 1H RSI filter helps you avoid shorting weak moves that aren’t actually “extended”
You keep execution consistent: same entry logic, same risk rules, less emotion
Risk warning
Trading is risky, especially when shorting highly volatile coins. This article is educational and not financial advice. Use conservative sizing, understand liquidation risk on Futures, and only trade with funds you can afford to lose.
