Coinbase is currently requiring users to re-verify their identity due to recent business organisation changes. If you’ve noticed any restrictions or cancellations on your account, this may be connected to the re-verification process. Coinbase has been notifying users directly via email.
1. What users need to do
Sign in to your Coinbase Advanced account using the web interface.
Upload one of the supported Photo ID document options (Driving Licence, Passport, etc.).
Take a selfie using your device’s camera.
We recommend performing the above steps using your laptop or PC to avoid issues when using a device with a small display.
2. Tips for smooth verification
Prepare high-quality images of your chosen Photo ID:
Front and back if using a driving licence.
Ensure all four corners are visible.
Avoid blurry or obscured areas.
Clean your webcam if picture quality is blurry.
Ensure good lighting (not too dark or too bright) when taking your selfie.
Note:
The verification process typically takes around 10 minutes, including uploading your Photo ID, taking a selfie, and having the system confirm your identity.
3. Important KYC deadline from Coinbase
You must complete the KYC refresh process by October 6, 2025.
If you do not complete this in time, Coinbase will restrict your account by law.
Restrictions include:
No longer being able to deposit or trade cryptocurrencies.
Any open orders being canceled.
The exact date when restrictions apply and orders are canceled may vary by a couple of days per user.
Some users may not see immediate order interruptions until the KYC deadline passes. If you’ve received multiple reminder emails from Coinbase titled “Please confirm your details to continue trading”, it means you must complete this process to avoid restrictions.
